At ECACUSA, our mission is to create value for the industry and our members by keeping you informed, connected, and prepared for the challenges ahead. We do this not only by promoting ECACUSA’s own programs, but also by recognizing and amplifying the work of others who are contributing to a stronger, more resilient industry.
One important initiative we are proud to highlight is STRIKE, the Strategic Threat Response & Infrastructure Knowledge Exchange. STRIKE brings together organizations, experts, and resources to better prepare for and respond to risks that threaten both infrastructure and the customer experience (CX).
What Is STRIKE?
STRIKE is a collaborative framework designed to help organizations understand and respond to strategic threats. Its focus includes:
- Identifying and monitoring risks that affect infrastructure, technology, and operations
- Facilitating secure and timely intelligence sharing across trusted partners
- Developing best practices for prevention, mitigation, and recovery
- Building stronger networks for rapid and coordinated response
By connecting members with real-time intelligence, peer networks, and practical resources, STRIKE helps ensure organizations are prepared before challenges turn into crises.
Why STRIKE Matters — Backed by Industry Action
The need for STRIKE is already being demonstrated in the broadband industry. According to NCTA’s recent announcement, incidents of vandalism and theft targeting broadband infrastructure are escalating rapidly.
From June to December 2024, there were more than 5,700 intentional attacks on broadband networks, affecting over 1.5 million customers. These disruptions didn’t just interrupt internet access; they also impacted hospitals, financial systems, emergency services, and communities that depend on reliable connections.
The STRIKE initiative, co-led by NCTA and SCTE, is bringing broadband providers together to coordinate responses and strengthen protections. This example shows why knowledge exchange matters, because when infrastructure is attacked, customer experience suffers directly.
Why STRIKE Is Important for the CX Industry
Although STRIKE originated in the broadband sector, its relevance for the customer experience industry is broad:
- Service continuity drives customer trust
A disruption in networks or systems is felt immediately by customers. STRIKE helps organizations anticipate and reduce these risks. - CX depends on reliable infrastructure
Modern customer experience is built on connected platforms, cloud services, APIs, and AI systems. Threats to these components can directly damage service quality. - Proactive resilience strengthens competitiveness
Organizations that plan for risks and build resilience can respond faster, protect customer relationships, and stand out in the market. - Shared knowledge leads to stronger defenses
By learning from one another and building cross-industry strategies, CX organizations can avoid repeating mistakes and benefit from proven solutions.
